About Sawariya Computer Classes

We teach computers the way most people actually learn them: by doing.

Who we are

Sawariya Computer Classes is a neighbourhood computer institute. We started because too many people we knew had "done a computer course" and still couldn't make an Excel sheet or file a form online on their own.

The problem usually wasn't the student. It was classes where a teacher talked through slides, forty people shared twenty computers, and nobody checked whether you could actually do the thing.

So we built the institute around the opposite idea. Keep batches small. Give every student their own computer in every class. Explain briefly, then let people practise while the instructor watches and helps. Teach with real examples, like a GST bill, a shop's stock sheet or a working website, rather than textbook exercises nobody will ever use.

Today we teach everything from Basic Computer and Hindi typing to Tally with GST, programming in C, Python and Java, full-stack web development, design, and year-long DCA, ADCA and PGDCA diplomas. The approach is the same for all of them.

Teaching approach

How a typical hour in class runs

Half the class, sometimes more, is you at the computer. That's where the learning actually happens.

  1. 10 min

    Recap

A quick look back at yesterday, and a chance to ask about anything that didn't stick.

  2. 15 min

    New topic

The instructor demonstrates the next step on the screen, with a real example.

  3. 30 min

    Practice

You do it yourself on your computer. The instructor goes round, checks work and helps.

  4. 5 min

    Wrap-up

Doubts, and what to practise before the next class.

The classroom

Quiet enough to concentrate, friendly enough to ask

Each student has a computer for the full class. Beginners often sit near the front so the instructor can check on them more often. Students on the same course work on similar projects, so you'll often find yourself helping someone, or being helped.

Instructors know students by name and know where each one is in the course. If you've missed a few classes or are finding something hard, they'll notice, and you'll get extra practice time to catch up.

What makes us different

A few things we won't do

  • We won't promise you a job.

We help with resumes, interview practice and openings we hear about. But anyone who guarantees a job after a three-month course is selling something.

  • We won't push you into a bigger course.

If a two-month course covers what you need, we'll tell you. You can always come back for the next one.

  • We won't replace teaching with videos.

Notes and references help, but your classes are taught by a person in the room, every day.

  • We won't surprise you with fees.

The course fee is stated up front, along with the instalment plan. What we quote is what you pay.

Come and see the lab

The easiest way to know if we're right for you is to visit. See the lab, meet an instructor, and ask whatever you like.
